National Doodle Day statement, 7 January 2011

Since 2004, annual fundraising event National Doodle Day has supported the work of two charities, Epilepsy Action (234343) and the Neurofibromatosis Association (1078790). The two charities have now amicably agreed to end this partnership. National Doodle Day is now solely owned in its entirety by Epilepsy Action. All money raised by National Doodle Day will support the work of Epilepsy Action only.

Di Flatt, fundraising manager at Epilepsy Action, said: “We are delighted to take on National Doodle Day following discussions throughout 2010. This has been a happy and prosperous partnership and we are looking forwards to developing National Doodle Day over the coming years. This year’s event, on 11 February, has already received over 200 celebrity doodles and at least 150 organisers of doodle events have signed up. We will remain in contact with the Neurofibromatosis Association and wish them well with their plans for the future.”

Lindsey Rennard, chief executive of the Neurofibromatosis Association, said: “The Neurofibromatosis Association has developed a new and exciting five year plan, which will focus on five core areas: inform, advise, advocate, connect and fund. We aim to reach out to wider audiences to help fulfil our vision to improve the lives of those affected by neurofibromatosis. Following this strategic review, there was not an obvious fit for National Doodle Day within these plans, so we are delighted to hand the event over to Epilepsy Action in its entirety. We wish Epilepsy Action every success with the event in the future, and look forward to the two charities continuing to work closely together.”
